During this time, ‘Avitrek Region' has closely monitored the investigation into the terror act.

THREE YEARS AGO THEY MURDERED ANNA POLITKOVSKAYA
Четверг, 12 Октябрь 2006
SHE WAS THE FIRST TO RISE UP
ImageDuring 7 years of war Anya could have been killed at any moment

Anna Politkovskaya came to the Novaya Gazeta during the summer of 1999. She appeared just in time for the beginning of the second Chechen campaign (may it be damned).

Her first step during the war was the rescue of the most defenseless of people — elderly and mentally ill patients from a Grozny asylum. In late fall of 1999, federal troops surrounded Grozny and bombarded it with heavy artillery and aircraft-dropped bombs. The Russian military leadership claimed that all civilians had left Grozny, and only militants remained. The 102 unlucky inmates of the asylum did not count: not for our military, nor the militants. Death was prepared from them: if not from the bombs, then from hunger and cold.

An appeal by Stary-Oskol medical students
Среда, 02 Сентябрь 2009
1The modern history of Russia contains so much grief, and so many misfortunes, that one can weep every day. People have become hardened, and do not allow regretful thoughts to long occupy them. They say: but no children were killed there. In Beslan there were children. At 'Nord-Ost' there also were children. And in Budyonnovsk. But few remember the dates of all these funeral events. They are superimposed on top of the other. One tragedy causes you to forget the rest. Most people are so tired, after all these years of terrorism, violence, and tragedies, that they either consciously or subconsciously drive away all such dark thoughts.
That is why the students at Stary-Oskol medical college for the third consecutive year will hold a Day of Solidarity in the fight against terrorism, and will light memorial candles and remember those who suffered and perished in terror attacks all over Russia.

The Children of Beslan: Nightmares and Hopes
Вторник, 01 Сентябрь 2009

1Any story of the events in Beslan should come from the source — the children. Eva Yuart is convinced of this. She is a BBC correspondent and the author of two films about the school hostage tragedy in this Osetian city.

Eva arrived in Beslan soon after the shootings that killed hundreds of children and adults on September 3rd, 2004. She got to know several families, members of whom lived through the three nightmarish days that followed the seizure of hostages. Several of them lost parents, brothers, or sisters in Beslan School #1.

In 2005, after the end of her trip, the film ‘The Children of Beslan' was made.
