About Sasha
Written by Galina, on 11-03-2007 10:01

I started to write about Sasha several times, but it just never turned out right. I would start to remember, and tears would begin to flow...

I remember when Roza came to our house with little Sashenka. For some reason Sasha didn't want her picture taken, but she loved to take our picture. While we were busy in the kitchen, she played outside with the animals and swung on the swing set. She was a child without problems, never demanding much attention, and could find something she loved doing. Both Kolyas loved to carry her around or simply play around. She dragged Kuzya the cat around until he was half-senseless, while Jerry the dog let Sashunya do anything she wanted to him. We put Jerry on a chain, because we were worried about the child, but it turned out to be in vain. Sasha went and saddled up the dog, and lay on him, while Jerry just put up with it all, and never even tripped her with his chain (as he always did to me).

Sasha often still stands before me. There was one time when we'd gone to her parents house to get jars and such from the cellar. Back then they had a cat named Dasha who would jump around on the bags we'd prepared, while Sasha hung by her arms from the doorframe. Kolya joked with her - how fair-skinned and blue-eyed she was, with long hair. He asked if she had any boyfriends or not. But in 2002 Sasha had her hair cut short and we asked why she had cut off such pretty long hair. Later we came to the opinion that it was no big deal, but better before.

Remember how we worried about Sasha, that she'd catch cold, and didn't let her go to the aquapark? It was August 29th, 2002, just before school began. On that day we went to the restaurant 'Alladin', Roza and Sasha and me with her godmother Yulka. Secretly we'd arranged a "holiday for the belly". It was great - the girls found it interesting had we all had a good time. What did we not try that day! Salads and french fries and cakes and beverages...

Yulka cried when she found out Sashenka was no more...

I often think how it would have been, if...

Perhaps it's better not to think.
