 The 'Voice of Beslan' and 'Beslan Mothers' organizations held an anti-Putin rally near School No. 1 in Beslan, which in 2004 was seized by terrorists.
According Ella Kesayeva, the co-head of 'Voice of Beslan', protesters set up a poster on the road near the school that read 'Putin's Course', with an arrow pointing to the school. Susanna Dudiyeva, chairman of the 'Beslan Mothers' committee, said that the rally lasted about two hours. «The government does not want to see its mistakes and blunders,» said Dudiyeva. «We have lost our children. We have the right to show the authorities that their way is wrong.» Passersby who stopped their cars to take part joined the silent picket.
Earlier at a rally on Dubrovka, Ella Kesayeva, co-chairman of 'Voice of Beslan', demanded that «the bloody president and bloody generals» be brought to justice. «The place for criminals is in prison,» she said, and she expressed confidence that sooner or later those responsible for shooting at schoolchildren in Beslan, and those who filled an auditorium full of people with gas, would answer for their actions. Kesayeva accused Putin of lying. According to her, his statement that a situation that like Beslan and 'Nord-Ost' «can happen in any country» are «a vile lie.»
Kesayeva believes that while terrorist attacks may be possible in any country, nowhere else would the authorities kill the hostages, and end up with medals. «Generals Patrushev, Tikhonov, and Pronichev, received Hero of Russia stars, but they are not the heroes of the people, but President Putin's personal heroes,» said the 'Voice of Beslan' co-chair.
Recall that as a result of being captured by terrorists on September 1–3, 2004, 1,128 people were held hostage in School No. 1 in Beslan. During the special operation 334 people were killed, including 317 hostages. 186 of the slain hostages were children. 728 hostages and 55 members of the FSB, Interior Ministry, and army were wounded as well. During the hostage rescue operation on September 3rd, 31 terrorists were killed. Kulayev was the only terrorist captured alive.
