Moscow Prosecutor's Office admits to looting of property from hostages at Dubrovka
‘Interfax’ reports that representatives of the Moscow prosecutor's office admitted to the embezzlement of personal effects belonging to Dubrovka hostages. The looting took place during the course of investigations. The Zamoskvoretsky court reviewed statements by the Moscow prosecutor’s office on December 17th. The Court began its consideration of two lawsuits filed by relatives of hostages in Dubrovka, which accused the prosecutors of looting. Claimants seek to recover more than one million rubles. Their lawyer, Igor Trunov, has already said that objections raised by the prosecutors are groundless, especially their desire to shift responsibility to the Investigation Committee. As Trunov noted, at the time the offense was committed, there was not yet an Investigative Committee, thus the prosecutor's office is the appropriate defendant. He also added that other victims of the hostage crisis at Dubrovka might file similar claims in the near future. For its part, as reported by the Interfax news agency, the Investigative Committee of the Russian Prosecutor's Office opened a criminal investigation into the theft of money belonging to the  Add as favourites (141) | Views: 1233 |
