In memory of Joseph Kobzon
Written by Светлана Губарева
Четверг, 30 Август 2018
Iosif Davidovich Kobzon October 26, 2011 at the theater center on Dubrovka

I remember Kobzon's voice from early childhood. His songs were played on the radio and on television. The songs that he performed became hits, and I sang along with his beautiful baritone «I love you, life …», «And in our yard …», «I ask, at least for a while …».

In my personal life, Iosif Davidovich came in 2002, when the hostage-taking took place in the Moscow theater. We — Sasha, Sandy and I — were among the hostages, and Kobzon among the few people who tried to save us.

He went four times to negotiate with terrorists. Later, some allowed themselves to debate whether it was dangerous. And when Kobzon first entered the captured theater, no one could know whether he would come out. And I know that he could not fail to understand the whole danger, but he did go.

Joseph Davydovich was able to safely remove the hostage Lyubov Kornilova and three children from the theater center taken by the terrorists. If Barayev had allowed Yasir to let my daughter Sasha go, there could have been four released children, she could have stayed alive. It did not happen … But I am infinitely grateful to Joseph Davydovich for the hope that he gave me.

… And then we met annually at a mourning rally on October 26, when Kobzon postponed all cases and came to the square to honor the memory of 130 dead. In the first few years, he with dignity sustained the dislike from relatives and loved ones of the deceased, which fell on his shoulders, although it was addressed to officials.

Over time, the hostility passed, we understood and accepted: it is the same as we are — those who endlessly hurt for the lost relatives, friends.

Today it hurts me infinitely that Iosif Davidovich has passed away. I know how unbearably hard it is to lose loved ones. Condolences to Nelly Mikhailovna and the whole family of Joseph Davydovich.

PS. Ill-wishers are addressed to:
And you try to live a life like Kobzon! Make as much good as he, commit as many ACTIONS as he does! Yapping from the basement will be easier!
