 S. PARKHOMENKO: …I am asked to remember what I entered Senator Torshin in the same category of ‘traitors of hope’ as Judge Danilkin. What had he done? Recall that Senator Torshin was chairman of the famous Torshin Parliamentary Commission, charged with investigating the events in Beslan, this heinous act of terrorism with the destruction of an entire school and the deaths of a huge number of children.There was some hope that this commission would take upon itself the task of finding out how things really were, to tell the world who really decided on an assault and who carried it out in such a brutal and unconscionable manner, as was done in Beslan. Senator Torshin and his colleagues betrayed this hope. They did not dare make such statements. For a long time they wagged their tail, telling everyone how hard they were working. They asked not to be disturbed, do not jostle them, do not look over their shoulders, for now they would collect everything in the world and explain it all. Then they just got scared, and they did it in front of the whole. It was very obvious and brightly visible. Something like this happened to Judge Danilkin, and I think that they should somehow get together and have a drink and share experiences on how to live with themselves under these circumstances.
