 The month of August was very eventful. First off, Russia carefully prepared for the Beijing Olympics, and then scrupulously counted every medal earned. Against this backdrop of general joy, everyone was too busy to remember the «black days» of August.The following list is filled with the days of «Operation Enforce Peace» August 1st, 2003: The Mozdok hospital building in North Ossetia is blown up. 50 killed, more than 60 injured. August 7th, 2008: Blast on the beach in the village of Loo in the Lazarevsky district of Sochi. 2 killed, dozens wounded. August 9th, 2000: Explosion in a pedestrian underpass by Pushkin Square in Moscow. An improvised explosive device with the power of 800 grams of TNT was packed with nuts and bolts, and then left in a shopping bag next to a shopping pavilion. 13 killed, 61 injured. August 13th, 2007: Nevsky Express, in route from Moscow to St. Petersburg, crashes as a result of the bombing of the railroad tracks (in the official version). The power of the explosive device was up to 2 kg of TNT. In the resulting accident there are no deaths, but 60 are injured, 25 requiring hospitalization. August 21st, 2006: Blast at the Cherkizovsky marketplace in Moscow. 14 killed, 61 injured. August 24th, 2004: Suicide bombers destroy a Tu-154 and a Tu-134 in the air over the Tula and Rostov regions. Shamil Basayev claims responsibility for the attack. 90 killed. August 31st, 2004: A female suicide bomber sets off an explosive device near the Riga subway station (Moscow). Shamil Basayev claims responsibility for the attack. More then 10 killed, 50 injured and hospitalized. Tomorrow — September 1st — is the fourth anniversary of the hostage crisis at School No. 1 in Beslan (North Ossetia). As a result of the terrorist attack, almost 350 are killed, half of them children. More than 500 wounded. September 1st through the 3rd there will be memorial rallies in Moscow. September 1st, from 6pm to 9pm, there will be a rally at the Kropotkin subway station (on the square near the Engels monument). September 2nd, from 6pm to 9pm, there will be a rally at the Street of 1905 subway station (on the square near the monument). September 3rd from 12:30pm to 3pm, there will be memorial meeting by the Chistye Prudy subway station (on the square area near the Griboyedov monument). At the September 3rd meeting, at precisely 1:02pm (the moment the assault on the Beslan school began) a list will be read of all who were slain in Beslan.
