On Wednesday, in the central Journalism Union building, members of the ‘Nord-Ost’ organization held a press conference. Present were co-chairmen Sergey and Tatiana Karpova as well as the organization’s activist Dmitry Milovidov. The ‘Nord-Ost’ people spoke about their intentions to bring to justice high-ranking officials who, in their opinion, are guilty of the deaths of people as a result of the terror act in the theatrical center on Dubrovka in 2002. The press conference’s participants did not report anything new, as the arguments they made have been broadcast several times before. This time, however, the organization’s members announced that they were petitioning the Prosecutor General’s office, “with the goal of bringing the guilty to justice”. By the way, on that same day Tatiana Karpova answered questions in an online news conference for the New York Times publication.

In Kommersant Victims of the terror act accuse Nikolai Patrushev of negligence The ‘Nord-Ost’ public organization yesterday petitioned the Prosecutor General’s office with a demand that criminal charges be brought against members of the operational headquarters responsible for the rescue of hostages from the Dubrovka theatrical center. They are accused of negligence and hiding information on the dangerous gas used by the special services. According to the ‘Nord-Ost’ terror act victims, they were only now appealing to the Prosecutor General because they had spent the last five years “collecting proofs, questioning witnesses, and studying materials from the criminal case while under constant resistance from the prosecutor’s office”.

In Grani.ru ‘Nord-Ost’ organization demands criminal charges against the hostage rescue headquarters The Russian public organization ‘Nord-Ost’ has petitioned the Prosecutor General’s office, demanding that a criminal case be initiated against members of the operational headquarters for rescue of the hostages (at Dubrovka). Heads of the organization declared this on Wednesday at a press conference, according to a correspondent from Grani. They are accusing FSB director Nikolai Patrushev, his deputy, Vladimir Pronichev, and the chief of the special operations center, Alexander Tikhonov, as well as former Security Council secretary Vladimir Rushailo. “We won’t even rule out the president,” declared ‘Nord-Ost’ coordinator Tatiana Karpova.  The ‘Nord-Ost’ public organization sent a declaration to the Prosecutor General of Russia demanding that charges be brought against those persons responsible for the deaths of 130 hostages during the special operation at Dubrovka. Relatives of victims, and victims of the terror act, accuse the assault operation’s leadership of a cover up and negligence in carrying out their professional duties. In the opinion of Irina Khadamada, who took part in a civil investigation into the seizure and assault on ‘Nord-Ost’, nothing will result from this appeal to the Prosecutor General.

| | | It became known yesterday that the European Court of Human Rights received a complaint from 89 victims of the Beslan terror act. The victims intend to show that their relatives were denied their right to life, and that an objection investigation and effective legal defense was denied them in their homeland. The fifty-page complaint was sent to Strasbourg by the ‘Voice of Beslan’ organization on June 25th. Yesterday the clerk of court reported that the appeal by the residents of Beslan had been registered as #26562/07, and titled ‘Kesayeva and 88 others versus Russia’. “The complaint hasn’t yet been accepted for processing since the plaintiffs have promised to send supplementary documents,” added the European court’s chancellery. Судья Ленинского суда г. Владикавказа Панаиотиди вынес решение о прекращении деятельности общественной организации «Голос Беслана» в нынешнем ее составе. На основании фальсифицированных документов (протокола собрания) суд обязал регистрационную палату исключить из организации председателя Эмму Бетрозову и члена организации Эллу Кесаеву, а также изменить устав организации и назначить жителей Беслана Руслана Тебиева, Виктора Аликова и Марину Меликову новыми сопредседателями «Голоса Беслана», передает корреспондент «Новой газеты» Елена Милашина.
