Age 16; Russia, Moscow.
 Liza was a very calm, happy, and radiant baby. She began to speak at an early age. She liked the letter ‘R’ a lot, and at a year and a half she would yell the words “rama” (doorframe) and “karas”(crucian).
Liza loved to dance, and from age six on she studied choreography. In childhood she often argued with her younger brother, and even fought with him, but when they got a little bigger they became friends. She often helped her brother with his homework assignments. Liza was the “live wire” among her friends. Such people are often called “the soul of the party”. But at the same time she was easily hurt – any remark or insult and she would burst into tears. Liza was distressed that she could not find worthy replies to rudeness, but would just loose control and cry. She was interested in religion, and she often asked questions about it and went to church with me. A lot of boys liked Liza, and Liza liked boys. She often asked me how to know if someone was your “other half”, how to tell love from infatuation, how she could be sure she was not making a mistake, and how to find her true love. She dreamed of becoming a barber-stylist. Liza graduated from the barber course when she was 14, and for New Years 2002 I asked her to cut my braid. Liza gave me a beautiful, fashionable hairstyle. That year we undertook a remodeling of her room. All covered in cement, she suddenly says: “A physician should heal, a chef should cook, while a housepainter should whitewash”. But we got the remodeling done somehow. Liza painted the floorboards and window frames blue, and turned the ceiling into a starry sky. These stars still shine in her room…
