Age - 26; Russia, Moscow.

My little daughter, my kin!

Gentle and frail, she gave me strength and confidence in every bitter and complex situation in life.

So much talent was given her by destiny: posing and figure skating, music school and dance studios, and languages.  French was like a second native tongue to her, and she studied under a native French teacher in a special school, and later in the Alliance Francois lyceum in Paris.  She also knew English, Spanish, and German, and had done an internship in London.

While studying at the Sorbonne, ‘Natoosya’ sometimes came from her classes and reported that she once again had to produce her Russian passport, to prove that she was not French, but Russian.

The Russian artist Georgy Shishkin, renowned in France, sketched her portraits.  He named the series ‘Feminine Tenderness’, and exhibited them in galleries in Versailles and Monaco, where we admired our little daughter with pride.

In the United Arab Emirates, Natalya’s portrait wearing traditional Russian headwear was called Grad Kitezh and opened the exhibition, and was sold after it was over.  With the proceeds from the sale, the artist bought an apartment on the bank of the Seine in Paris.

Continuing her studies at Moscow’s Friendship of the Peoples University, our daughter worked for the office of a Swiss firm.  For her excellent work on her diploma, which occupied an honored place in the competition, Natoosya had her studies for her master’s degree paid for, and received her master’s degree that summer, three months before ‘Nord-Ost’.  Her dossier was sent to the international offices of UNESCO in Geneva, and she had so much to look forward to in the future…

The happy fiancée of a Swiss businessman…  They met on the steps of the cathedral of Christ the Savior, where he was to go on an excursion where Natoosya was the translator.  “And lightening struck us,” he told me, as we walked along their favorite Moscow spots AFTERWARDS…

For her 25th birthday her fiancé organized a trip to Brazil, so that he could celebrate her birthday several times while they crossed through time zones.  It seemed that so much happiness lay ahead…

But at her 26th birthday, Erik, bitterly sobbing by her grave, unashamed of his masculine tears, placed on her thin finger a wedding band, and bid her farewell before her last road to Eternity!

“Our little sunbeam” is what our family called Natoosya.  “Little boat” (Korablik), is what her friends called her.  My solar boat has sailed away FOREVER.  What a terrible word!

A horrible anguish, which does not wish to change to bright sorrow…

Written by her mother, Elena Korableva.

A poem  by N. Panova, dedicated to Natashenka.
