ARBI BARAEV’S NEPHEW KILLED IN ARGUN

In the course of a special operation in Argun, Chechnya, Movsar Barayev, the nephew of the rebel field commander Arbi Barayev, was killed.

According to the FSB directorate in the Chechen Republic, Movsar Barayev had replaced his uncle as leader of the bandit unit and was its field commander.  Along with Movsar Barayev were killed two other middle-sized unit commanders – Rasul Murtazaliev and Ruslan Akhmadov.  On examination of the scene, employees of the local prosecutor’s office and interior ministry confiscated a radio-controlled explosive device and an assault rifle with ammunition.
