On August 12^th, 2009, there was a terrorist bombing in the city of Gagry in Abkhazia.   Especially affected was the Samchenko family, citizens of the Russian Federation.  The blast in Gagry rang out on the third day of the family's vacation, leaving Konstantin Samchenko and his son wounded by shrapnel, and his wife Antonina in grave condition with multiple fractures, burns, and shrapnel wounds.

They found themselves in dire straits far from home in the Republic of Abkhazia, without assistance from the Russian government.  The Russian consul in Abkhazia came to the Gagry hospital but once, and only offered to contact families of the victims. 

Afterwards the consul has never returned to the hospital and was unreachable by telephone.  Because of this, the victims, despite their conditions, were forced to return to Russia on their own.

The difficult journey and complicated crossing of the Russian-Abkhazian border took place on August 19^th.  On reaching Russian territory these citizens still found themselves without any assistance from the government.  It turns out that a promised «agreement» between the Gagry and Sochi hospitals did not really exist and the wounded experienced a «cheerful» reception at Sochi Hospital #4.  They are now located at the Sochi Burn Center in Hospital #3.

The Samchenko family appeals for any type of assistance: legal, medical, and material.
